چکیده

Test particle transport determined by the Lorentz force in turbulent magnetized plasmas is studied. The time dependent diffusion coefficient, valid for the whole range of parameters, is obtained by developing the decorrela-tion trajectory method. The effects of Larmor gyration in the presence of trapping are analyzed and several transport regimes are evidenced.

Quasicollisional magneto-optic effects in collisionless plasmas with sub-Larmor-scale electromagnetic fluctuations.

High-amplitude, chaotic or turbulent electromagnetic fluctuations are ubiquitous in high-energy-density laboratory and astrophysical plasmas, where they can be excited by various kinetic-streaming and/or anisotropy-driven instabilities, such as the Weibel instability. These fields typically exist on "sub-Larmor scales"-scales smaller than the electron Larmor radius. Electrons moving through suc...

Finite Larmor Radius Effects in Two-Dimensional Electrostatic Plasma Turbulence

Low frequency electrostatic turbulence in strongly magnetized, low @-plasmas, is studied in two spatial dimensions. In this limit the guiding center velocity in the direction perpendicular to a homogeneous magnetic field is approximated by the E x Bo/B,2-velocity. The electron Larmor radius can safely be set to zero for most relevant conditions, but the ion-dynamics are noticeably influenced by...

LETTER TO THE EDITOR Modelling the influence of temperature anisotropies on poloidal asymmetries of density in the core of rotating plasmas

A consistent set of equations is derived to model poloidal density asymmetries induced by temperature anisotropies in tokamak rotating plasmas. The model can be applied to compute poloidal density asymmetry of highly-charged impurities due to additional plasma heating. Microtearing modes in reversed field pinch plasmas.

In the reversed field pinch RFX-mod strong electron temperature gradients develop when the single-helical-axis regime is achieved. Gyrokinetic calculations show that in the region of the strong temperature gradients microtearing instabilities are the dominant turbulent mechanism acting on the ion Larmor radius scale. The quasilinear evaluation of the electron thermal conductivity is in good agr...

Finite Larmor Radius Effects on the Magnetorotational Instability

The linear dispersion relation for the magnetorotational instability (MRI) is derived including finite Larmor radius (FLR) effects. In particular, the Braginskii form of the ion gyroviscosity, which represents the first-order FLR corrections to the two-fluid equations, is retained. It is shown that FLR effects are the most important effects in the limit of weak magnetic fields, and are much mor...
